Smile

The crescendo of thunder,

The pale twilight,

An oncoming storm,

Dwindled in the night

Her eyes charged,

With an electric beam

She sat by the window

No attempt to redeem

In darkness he came,

A staggered silhouette

Smile,

They’ll anyway call this regret

And the rage of the night

Began; as he exposed his dear

Smile,

Today, no rain, no tear

So came the wind

And thunder from this ‘master’

Smile,

Remember, light travels faster

Every dark silent night

One victorious howl

Smile,

Wolves get hunted on the prowl

Tonight lightning strikes,

And reveals to the nocturnal

Smile,

One flash, his pain eternal

How his thunder covered for days

Today comes the complete storm

Smile,

Now, nobody goes to bed warm

Smile,

Smile,

Smile,

Let his eyes devour

Smile,

Let him feel the last of his power

Smile,

It’ll be the last thing he sees

Smile,

The final storm, then easy breeze

You have scars

He’ll be burnt to insignificant dust

Smile,

Tonight, yours is the lust

A poem that was intended to be calm and pleasant, but then the concept of “smile” began and I couldn’t stop myself from making it dark. An issue that I do feel deeply about. My take on Domestic Violence and resisting it.
